The maxi length denim skirt is the must-have for spring

Almost floor-length denim skirts are currently flooding my Instagram feed - and rightly so, in my opinion. Seven outfit inspos that show the potential of the trend piece.
Last year, low-cut, ultra-short skirts - barely more than a hand's width - received a lot of attention and love from the fashion world. A model by Miu Miu, so short that the trouser pockets peeked out at the bottom, was one of the most talked-about items of clothing of the year. Meanwhile, the Diesel brand showed wide belts worn as skirts during its brilliant catwalk comeback.
I watched the tiny jupes with amusement - from afar. Because bare bum cheeks are not exactly part of my fashion repertoire. However, just as handbags have recently moved from micro to the more practical maxi format, skirts are now following suit. The ultimate trend piece for spring is almost floor-length and is at the top of my wish list: the denim maxi skirt.
Maximum length, maximum versatility
This item of clothing was a regular guest on and off the catwalks at the latest Fashion Weeks and I am convinced that it will be seen more and more often on the streets here in the future. The long denim skirt is suitable for everyday wear, adapts well to different weather conditions and can be styled both casually and smartly. Blue washes are particularly trendy at the moment, but you can also go for completely bleached or very dark denim fabrics.
I also find the length a lot more flattering than midi skirts. Depending on your height, these can end at an unflattering point - where the calf is at its widest. Maxi skirts, on the other hand, especially those with a slit at the front, create an elongated, flowing silhouette. The long denim skirt is very easy to style, so here are seven outfit inspirations to get you started.
1. with a turtleneck
This look from influencer Yasmin Bright is super simple and super elegant. All you need is a tight-fitting long-sleeved shirt with a turtleneck, a narrow belt and knee-high boots. Just put on your sunglasses and you're done!

2. to the white T-shirt
When I don't know what to wear, I go for a minimalist combination that almost always works: jeans, a white T-shirt and a black oversized blazer. This season, I'm also going to swap the trousers for a long skirt. Influencer Morgane Renaudi's look also shows that ballerinas - which are currently back in vogue - go great with maxi skirts.

3. to the bandeau top
Influencer Yhasmina Tiphaine shows us which pieces you can use to style the denim maxi skirt for a more chic occasion. Pointed-toe pumps in a trendy metallic look, a bandeau top and leather blazer give the skirt a chic update.

4. to the transition jacket
More the sneaker type? Influencer Melissa wears Adidas Sambas with white socks and a trendy, loose leather jacket in a used look with her skirt. Alternatively, you can also opt for a voluminous bomber jacket, another hit this transitional season.

5. with the blouse
The trend piece also looks great with a casual blouse tucked into the waistband, as seen on influencer Canan Ulugol. If you dare, brightly coloured boots are a great eye-catcher. The look also works well with ballerinas, loafers or high mules.

6. to the crop top
Influencer Akhona Maldaka cleverly combines a cropped jumper with her denim skirt. This not only makes her covered-up look look more airy and summery, but also emphasises her waist.

7. to the tank top
Tank top, flat mules, basket bag: I'm definitely making a note of this mega simple look by influencer Anna Wein for the coming summer.
