The educational shower head I tested was ignored by "Stiftung Warentest" for its test field, but it still found 20 other water-saving models. The "Stiftung Warentest" environmental tip is the Vitalio Start 100 model from Grohe. This shower head has a flow rate of less than six litres per minute and, according to tests, also satisfactorily removes shampoo from long hair. It is by no means the case that shower heads rinse more powerfully and better the more water rushes through them. An optimised design means that a device can perform better with less water. The reverse is also true, of course.

If it is important to you that you rinse your hair quickly, a super saver like the Vitalio from Grohe is unlikely to be your model of choice. In this case, "Stiftung Warentest" recommends the Keuco Plan Blue. 8.3 litres of water flow through it per minute - compared to 5.5 with the Vitalio. This is still significantly less than the average German shower head. This value is 15 litres per minute.
