Stiftung Warentest: Out of 9 office chairs, one gets the grade "good"

A recent test shows that a high-quality office chair cannot be taken for granted. You can find out how individual models were rated here.
"Only one out of nine performs well" and even this has its weaknesses - this is the sobering conclusion of Stiftung Warentest. It focussed on what is fundamental for desk people: the office chair. In addition to a single good result, the ranking consisted of two "unsatisfactory" and six "satisfactory" or "sufficient" results.
Robust, safe, adjustable settings
There were various quality criteria. According to StiWa, a good chair should be robust and safe. You should also be able to adjust it so that it adapts to your body shape and sitting preferences. A model from Höffner, which we unfortunately do not have in our range, scored best with a 2.5. Among the three models that received a "satisfactory" rating was the SPM1.279 "Darius" model from Amstyle (3.5) from our shop. The office chairs from Topstar and Dauphin also scored 4.0. In the latter, for example, the screw on one of the armrests broke during the endurance test.
The HjH Pro-Tec 300 from the higher price segment was rated "unsatisfactory". It is not stable as soon as you move its position far back - according to the StiWa test. Sluggish castors or pinching fingers when making adjustments were also a shortcoming of some office chairs.
