Small, red and not strictly necessary: this valve core remover makes my day

Sometimes it doesn’t take much to put you in a good mood throughout the day. Or throughout biking for that matter. A small red piece of aluminium is working wonders for me at the moment.

I’ll keep it short today, because it’s not that important. But I’d still like to share the following with you:

A few days ago, I was having lunch with my boss and my co-worker Siri Schubert. We were talking about how much of our salary goes right back to our employer each month. After all, we’re constantly buying stuff we don’t really need. Here’s an example for you:

Sure, the name of this valve key or valve core remover is debatable. Personally, I’m a sucker for provocative product names. I also love colourful parts for my bike. And I’m not the only one, it turns out. During that conversation I mentioned, my colleague told me she’d recently bought colourful valves for herself and her husband’s bike. We both seem to make colourful impulse purchases. And why not?

Firstly, the Juicy Nipple combines two functions in one product: wrench and valve cap. Used as a wrench, you can screw the core of the valve in and out; as a cap, it protects the valve from dirt and damage. Secondly, it adds a little fun to my bike as a small but subtle detail. Call me superficial, but I enjoy it and it makes my day in the saddle that little bit sweeter.

When I look at the current state of the world and how things are developing, a bit of fun and joy can’t hurt. Even if it’s only thanks to something as trivial as two colourful aluminium caps for my mountain bike.

Small but fun. Looks good, right?
