
Register for the Digitec Playground Cup Vol. 11 with "Age of Empires II"

The Digitec community has decided. At the eleventh Digitec Playground Cup, we will be playing the strategy classic "Age of Empires II". You can now register for the tournament.
Castles are built and armies are commanded at the Digitec Playground Cup Vol. 11. "Age of Empires II" came out on top in the Community Voting with a total of 19 per cent of the votes. This puts the PC game narrowly ahead of "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" (with 16 per cent) and somewhat more clearly ahead of PUBG (with 10 per cent).
Timetable and registration
The Digitec Playground Cup consists of two separate tournaments. A Pro Tournament for the hardcore gamers among you and a Grümpi Tournament for all those who just want to take part for fun.
Both tournaments will be played in 1 vs. 1 mode with a time limit of 60 minutes

Conditions of participation and rules
Who can take part
You must be resident in Switzerland or Liechtenstein or have a Swiss passport/ID.
Which system can I play on?
The Cup is played with the PC version of "Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition" (current version).
Is there a level cap for the Grümpi tournament?
The median will be calculated from all registrations. The division into Pro and Grümpi tournament is automatic.
May I take part in the Pro and Grümpi tournaments?
No.
May I register for two qualifier rounds?
Yes. If it doesn't work the first time, you can try again.
What do the rules look like?
There is currently no detailed set of rules. These will be communicated in due course on the digitec discord server. An unlimited number of players can register for the qualifiers. In the first phase, the qualifiers consist of a Swiss Stage (Swiss System) with 4 games/rounds in which points are collected. The top eight players will play in a single elimination bracket in the second phase of the qualifiers. One player per qualifier can qualify for the final on 13 October at Herofest. Two participants will play in the pro tournament and two participants in the Grümpi tournament at the final.
When and where does the cup take place?
The offline final will take place on 13 October at Herofest in Bern. The two qualifiers will be played on 16 and 23 September and will take place online. So you can take part from the comfort of your own home. As usual, there will once again be a Grümpi and a Pro tournament.

Where can I watch?
The finals of the Pro and Grümpi tournaments will take place on the main stage of the Herofest in Bern. Come along and watch the matches live on site. You can get an impression of last year's "Rocket League" final in this video:
The two qualifiers of the Pro tournament and the two finals of the Pro and Grümpi tournaments will be broadcast live on Twitch and Youtube.
