Rare insights: Ferm Living reveals some secrets of its latest vases
During 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen, the well-known Danish brand Ferm Living gave an insight into its production and presented an exhibition that honoured both traditional craftsmanship and technological innovation.
3daysofdesign is an annual design festival in Copenhagen, Denmark. It brings together designers, brands and manufacturers to celebrate trends and innovations in design. During the festival, numerous showrooms, studios and galleries open their doors to present new products, collections and installations. One of the most exciting of these was the exhibition "The Art of Making" by Ferm Living.
On the one hand, the Danish label presented new products such as the modular "Rouli" sofa for indoors and outdoors, which is inspired by waves.
On the other hand, hand-drawn sketches and "a series of amorphous prototypes and enigmatic still images from the production process", as the media report puts it, could be inspected. "There is an untold story in every product, shaped not only by the manufacturing process but also by the touch of the skilful hands it has encountered over time."
Among the pieces presented, the "Dae" lamp, which resembles a butterfly chrysalis, stands out in particular. It is transparent, consists of polymer layers and lies at the interface of art and functionality.
