Push-ups are the mother of all exercises

Translation: Eva Francis

Push-ups are an essential part of every bodyweight workout routine. The mother of all exercises strengthens the muscles in your shoulders, arms and chest. There are countless variations, from the classic Army Push-up to the Plyo Push-up.

Push-ups don't have to be performed on the palms of your hands. How about these variations:

  • On the fingertips: Your hands and fingers need to be extremely strong to pull this one off. Bruce Lee set an astonishing example for this type of push-up by performing the exercise on only two fingers.
  • On the fists: This helps to protect and strengthen the wrists, boosts the training effect and toughens you up.
  • On push-up handles or push-up bars

The Tunturi push-up bars offer optimal support for your upper body exercises. Equipped with rubber-coated feet and neoprene padding on the hand rests, they don't slip on the ground and provide a comfortable grip. With these bars, you're able to achieve training results quickly and easily.

To increase the training effect, add on weight in the shape of a weight vest, as this one by Gorilla Sports, for instance.
