Philips Lumea: new IPL generation for hair removal at home
Do you want to get rid of body hair for the long term and not have to constantly reach for a razor? Then the new generation of Philips Lumea devices might be for you. We have them in our shop now.
The new Lumea devices from Philips are available in several configurations. From the entry-level model with one attachment to the 9900 Pro with app support and four attachments, there is something for many areas of application.
Common features of the products
Technically, all models rely on IPL, short for «Intense Pulsed Light.» The light pulses are intended to reduce hair regrowth. An integrated sensor detects the skin tone and suggests the appropriate intensity level from five options.
A UV filter and protection against accidental light flashes are also part of the basic equipment.
Important: For IPL to work, there must be a contrast between hair color and skin tone. According to Philips, the devices are suitable for dark blonde, brown, and black hair as well as for skin tones from light to medium brown.
The different models
The Lumea 9900 Pro is the most extensively equipped model in the series. It combines the «SenseIQ Pro» sensor technology with audio guidance. After the skin analysis, the Lumea app guides you step-by-step through the application.
The scope of delivery includes four attachments for the body, face, underarms, and bikini area. You should see initial results after just two applications. If you refresh the treatments monthly, Philips promises up to five years of smooth skin.
The next smaller model contains three attachments for the body, face, and more sensitive body areas.
Two curved attachments for the body and face are included with the 8000 series model.
The Lumea 7000 is the entry-level model in the series. It comes with a body attachment for larger areas such as the legs.
