Outdoorchef Prismo 420 G: Gas pizza oven with rotating pizza stone
The Prismo 420 G from Outdoorchef is a gas pizza oven with a rotating pizza stone, two burners and a digital temperature display. It is available now.
Pizza cooked in a domestic oven has a common problem: it often doesn’t get hot enough. The base sometimes remains soft, the crust dries out and the toppings take longer to cook. The Prismo 420 G from Outdoorchef is designed to help you make a delicious homemade pizza nonetheless.
It runs on LPG, can be set up outdoors on a balcony, terrace or in the garden, and features a rotating pizza stone with a diameter of 42 centimetres. Two burners, a digital touchscreen display and a maximum temperature of over 400 degrees Celsius are designed to make the cooking process easier to control.
The stone rotates the pizza for you
The most important feature is the rotating pizza stone. It automatically moves the pizza through the cooking chamber whilst it’s baking, helping to reduce temperature variations. This ensures that one side doesn’t brown much more than the other. You’ll need to use the peel less often, whilst still retaining control over the dough, toppings and baking time.

Heat from above and below
Pizza needs bottom heat for the base and top heat for the crust and toppings. The Prismo 420 G achieves this with two continuously adjustable burners: one is located in the cooking chamber, the other beneath the pizza stone. Together, they deliver 7.2 kilowatts. This allows you to adjust the ratio between top and bottom heat, for example when cooking thinly topped pizzas, tarte flambée, calzone or toppings with a high moisture content.
Outdoorchef specifies a preheating time of around 15 to 20 minutes. However, it is not just the temperature in the cooking chamber that is crucial. The stone must also store enough heat to ensure the base browns quickly. Wind, the outside temperature and the location can extend the preheating time.
The display shows two temperatures
The digital touchscreen display shows the temperature in the cooking chamber and on the pizza stone separately. This is helpful because the two values can differ. The cooking chamber may already be hot, whilst the stone has not yet stored enough heat. The display helps you to bake several pizzas in succession more consistently, as you can see when the stone has reached the required temperature again. The main burners are started via electric ignition.
The oven requires electricity to power the display and the rotating stone. According to Outdoorchef, this can be supplied via a mains connection or a power bank. This makes the Prismo 420 G more flexible in terms of where it can be placed, but it is not entirely independent of a power source.
Compact, but no lightweight
The oven measures 53.7 × 55.6 × 33 centimetres, weighs 25.5 kilograms and has a loading height of eight centimetres. This means it fits on patios and larger balconies, but requires a stable location. A fixed spot on a table, barbecue trolley or in an outdoor kitchen makes more sense than moving it around frequently. You’ll need to take into account the gas cylinder, clearance from walls and adequate ventilation.
The housing is made of powder-coated steel, whilst the front is made of stainless steel. Nevertheless, the Prismo 420 G remains a workhorse: flour, burnt-on residue and high temperatures are all part of the job. Cleaning and maintenance are therefore still required.
