Electric cars need power, even if no wallbox is available. Blaupunkt offers two chargers that are tailored to different scenarios.

With an electric car, you are flexible as long as you can charge. The wallbox in the garage or the public grid cover your everyday needs. But what if you're parked at a relative's house, next to a holiday flat or in a place with no infrastructure? A portable charger provides a solution here. It doesn't replace a fast charging station, but offers you a reserve for emergencies or overnight charging.

Blaupunkt has two models in its range that cover different usage scenarios.

Charger with CH plug

The portable charger is designed for Switzerland. It employees a CH plug and type 2 connection. The output is 1.8 kilowatts at eight amps. The charging times depend heavily on the battery size:

  • 20 kWh (city runabout): around 12.3 hours
  • 40 kWh (Nissan Leaf, for example): around 24.7 hours
  • 60 kWh (for example VW ID.3): Around 37 hours

Fast charging is not possible. The device is suitable as a supplement if no other infrastructure is available. Advantage: The low current of eight amps reduces the thermal load on the cables and minimises the risk of overheating. This is particularly relevant for older installations or those not designed for continuous load.

The charger is equipped with an eight-metre cable, weighs just 2.8 kilograms and comes with a transport and protective bag.

Alternative with more power

Blaupunkt also offers a second portable charger that we have had in our range for some time. This model employs a red CEE16 plug. The output is eleven kilowatts at 16 amps. This significantly shortens charging times:

  • 20 kWh: around two hours
  • 40 kWh: around four hours
  • 60 kWh: around 6.1 hours

The CEE model is therefore much more practical for regular charging. However, it requires a suitable high-voltage socket.

Classification and comparison

The two devices serve different scenarios. The CH model is compact, frugal and can be used almost anywhere. However, it does not charge very quickly. The CEE model is powerful and charges in just a few hours. However, you are tied to a special socket.
