Monochrome: Sometimes you don't need more than a single eyeshadow
Eye shadow palettes are booming. But working with a single colour can also be fun. I'll tell you how to achieve the monochrome look.
Do you actually remember your first eyeshadow? I mean the one single one that you proudly and without any talent smeared all over your eyelid? Mine was light blue. I thought it would match my equally blue eyes. I had no idea about complementary colour theory back then. My tool: not a brush, but the cheap sponge applicator that came with the product. So much for my back story.
How to wear the monochrome look these days:
Grab an eyeshadow colour that you like. And if you want to go for the same shade as your eye colour, then go for it. To each their own. Here's how I apply it myself:
Step 1: Set your entire eyelid with a neutral powder first. This makes it easier to blend the powder texture of the eyeshadow later and prevents it from sticking to the oily lid. This way, you avoid a blotchy result.
Step 2: Now use a blending brush. These are not so tightly bound and ensure that you have a clean, even transition from your eyelid to the eyebrow bone when you're done. To do this, take some of the eyeshadow on the brush and place the product in your crease and slightly above it. And if you like, you can also apply some of the colour along your lower lash line. This way, your eyes will be beautifully framed by the colour. [[productlist:6779705]]
Step 3: Then it's all about blending, blending, blending. Fine, circular movements are ideal for this. You can build up the colour until you are happy with the intensity.
Step 4: Finally, use your finger or a flat synthetic brush and apply the same eyeshadow to your mobile eyelid. This ensures that the colour is applied as thickly as possible. Then touch up the transition with the brush again. That's it.
I know what you're thinking: that's an astonishing number of steps for only using one eyeshadow, madam. But no pain, no gain.
As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
