In 2025, we will apply make-up according to our aura - at least according to Pinterest
Pinterest has once again looked deep into the crystal ball (aka data) and published an annual trend forecast. For nails and make-up, the forecast is called "Aura Beauty", among other things.
Pinterest's annual trend report is here. The inspiration platform's analysis team scrutinised the search queries of 537 million active users and derived the 20 most important trends for the year 2025. Confusingly, the forecast for us beauty fans points in two opposite directions.
It's getting colourful
According to Pinterest, colourful looks will soon replace the prevailing simple clean-girl aesthetic. In the period from September 2022 to August 2024, the trend search terms included
Full colour makeup eyes (+365%), New wave makeup (+410%), Golden aura (+75%) and Aura effect (+35%) were on the rise. Pinterest summarises this development under the term "Aura Beauty". Creative and somehow - at least visually - fitting. In other words, we can expect iridescent, ethereal creations with striking colour combinations and gradients.

A wave of deep-sea vibes
If the aura hype is too colourful for you, you can take inspiration from the dark deep-sea aesthetic. It was listed by Pinterest as another trend under the title "Sea Witchery". Sea witches and mermaids as muse, so to speak. More frequent searches were not only for matching outfit ideas, but also suggestions for nail designs, make-up looks and wavy hairstyles. Popular search terms included Dark siren makeup (+695%), Wavy wet hair look (+80%), Sea inspired nails (+65%) and Dark mermaid makeup (+90%).

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
From the latest iPhone to the return of 80s fashion. The editorial team will help you make sense of it all.
