I run and shine without freezing - my first impression of the Lite Show top from Asics

I need a top that keeps me warm and visible while jogging. I found it with the Lite Show top from Asics. Conclusion: I am very satisfied with it.
Winter presents two challenges for me as an amateur runner: Darkness and cold. Not to speak of the inner pig dog, which currently also has more forces than in spring sunshine and 22 degrees. I faced it and made an impulse buy:The winter top from Asics with a zipper up to chest height now enriches my runner wardrobe.

After a few runs with the part I do not regret the purchase. The approximately 80 francs are well invested. For two reasons:
1. it keeps me warm
Onion-shell principle is all well and good. I find two layers okay, but with three layers I feel restricted in my movements. The Asics piece in combination with a thermal long-sleeved shirt underneath is warm enough for my jogging round at temperatures between 0 and 5 degrees outside. So far I have been able to try it out. Of course, the cold sensation is individually different, so my experience is subjective.
I particularly appreciate the high collar on my new Lite-Show top, which also has roughened fabric on the inside. This feels very comfortable in the neck area, protects against wind and keeps me warm. At 300 grams, the polyester and spandex (six percent) piece is not particularly heavy, and it is cut comfortably close to the body for me and my weight of around 82 kilograms. Despite the "regular fit". But if you're more into the look of a sausage skin, it's probably too loose for you.

Also important for my 192 centimetres height: the sleeve length. In size L, the elastic cuff reaches my thumb when I stretch my arm straight out. That is more than many other jackets and tops. The thumb holders sewn into the sleeve, however, I do not use. There it tightens then nevertheless too much.

2. it lets me shine
In the summer, I glow on my own with a red head from the exertion. In winter I am grateful if my clothes make me visible. I have not been able to get comfortable with headlamps and light clips. Good thing Asisc gave the top five light elements, two each on the shoulders and sleeves and one on the back. The neon yellow zipper also lights up. It's more the case that the elements reflect light that falls on them well, for example from cyclists or from car headlights on the road next to the footpath and cycle path on which I regularly ride. Of course, this doesn't make you a running Swarovski Christmas tree. But at least it's better than nothing.

Conclusion: Lite-Show-Top fulfils its purpose
I am happy with my new luminous top. In the twilight or on foggy days it gives me more visibility and warmth and has a good fit, plus it even has a small zippered pocket for keys or a hankie. How well the light elements hold up on the top will have to be proven after a few more rounds in the washing machine. So far, at least, everything is holding up, and nothing is flaking off, as I've had to find with other garments before. Because the fabric is roughened on the inside in the shoulder area, the removal of moisture, a.k.a. sweat suffers. I sweat a little more when I'm running in the intensive range, between 150 and 167 bpm for me.

The fact that, according to the label, the Lite Show top was partly produced from recycled material, i.e. old textiles were brought back to life, should ease my conscience. When I ask Asics, they tell me that at least 50% of the material is recycled polyester. I also get an email explaining that Ascis adheres to the requirements of the Global Recycled Standard and ensures that their supply chains are audited and certified. Of course, it would still be better not to buy a new garment, but if anything, this is how I tell myself. To ease my conscience, I promise myself to use it for as long as possible. So I hope for a long winter and many runs in the cold.
