Halloween livestream: scare yourself with us. We play horror games
by Philipp Rüegg
Phil and I fight our way through four more or less scary games in the Halloween stream. The stream starts on 31.10. at 16:00 on Twitch. I'm already shaking.
I love horror films, but hate horror games. With films, I can sit back and relax and be creeped out. A psychopathic killer kills teenagers in the most brutal way? No problem. But in games, it's ME who has to make decisions and fight for survival. The interactivity and immersion of horror games increases my fear exponentially compared to movies - I feel uncomfortable, get sweaty palms and heart palpitations while playing.
.
Best conditions for a successful Halloween stream. Phil and I have chosen four games to stream on Twitch and Youtube from 4pm on Halloween Monday.
We start with a cosy Halloween game and go ghost hunting in "Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed". In this asymmetrical multiplayer game, one ghost competes against four ghostbusters. The ghost's goal is to wreak as much havoc as possible. And the Ghostbusters have to - how could it be otherwise - weaken and catch the ghost with their proton blasters. I should get through this game without any permanent damage.
I have no idea what to expect in this game. It looks like a game from the early PS1 era and has a weird killer bunny that will surely haunt my dreams. I expect lots of jump scares and disturbing images. I'll go ahead and prepare the chamomile tea with valerian calming drops.
Continue with a game on the "Backrooms"-Creepypasta. According to an internet legend, the backrooms are an endless labyrinth with yellow wallpaper, damp carpet and unpleasantly buzzing fluorescent lights. Of course, all kinds of creepy creatures live there, too. You get into the backrooms by falling through a wall or the floor due to a mistake in the real world. Or by downloading the game on Steam and playing it in the Halloween stream. The chamomile tea will have to do for this game - I'm getting queasy just looking at the screenshots.
We close out the Halloween stream with a slightly less scary game. In "Resident Evil Re:Verse", well-known "Resident Evil" characters and monsters compete against each other in action-packed multiplayer matches. The game looks pretty trashy and that's a good thing. That's probably all I can take by the end of the stream.
What game are you most looking forward to? Are there any other games we should play?
My love of video games was unleashed at the tender age of five by the original Gameboy. Over the years, it's grown in leaps and bounds.
