First information about RC batteries and chargers

You have bought your first RC car, aeroplane or other RC model and a lot of questions arise when you unpack it. With a little basic knowledge on the topic of RC batteries, you will certainly be able to answer some of them.
Is the battery included?
Before you buy the RC model, check whether the battery is included in the scope of delivery. This is noted under the specifications of the respective product. Most of the RC models in our range include a battery. If not, you will find the right battery at the bottom of the respective product in the "Accessories" section.
Is a charger included?
Before you buy, check the description of the RC model to see whether the charger is included. If not, you will definitely need a charger. In terms of quality and type, the one from nVision is the same as the charger that is usually supplied. You can only use it to charge LiPo batteries. It is suitable for batteries of smaller RC models for children and beginners. You don't need to make any settings either. Simply plug the battery cable directly into the charger. In contrast to other chargers, this model has a rather low charging capacity, which is why it takes a little longer to charge your battery.

Can I set off straight away?
If you buy a "ready-to-race" or "ready-to-fly" model, you don't need to assemble the product. You can basically get started right away. However, for safety reasons, batteries are always transported discharged. You must therefore charge the battery first. Only then can you start driving or flying.
Do I need a spare battery?
The battery runtime varies greatly from RC model to RC model. From the factory, it ranges from 5 minutes to 45 minutes. To experience a whole afternoon (or even a whole day) of remote control fun, it is therefore advisable to have a few spare batteries ready. Here you can find all RC batteries.
How do I find the right battery?
The choice of batteries is huge. The right battery is always listed at the bottom of the "Accessories" section for each product. If we don't have your RC model in our range, take a look at the values on the battery supplied. The user manual for your RC model should also contain the key data for the appropriate battery. The voltage (volts) and battery type (NiMh or LiPo) must match. The dimensions of the battery are also decisive in the choice. It is best to measure the battery compartment first and select a battery of the right size.
Do I need an additional charger?
As the batteries differ in size, type, voltage, etc., you need a separate charger for each battery. If your RC fleet already includes a few models, you will also have several batteries and various chargers. It is then worth buying a charger that is suitable for different battery types. You will then no longer need the individual chargers supplied. An all-rounder model with a good price/performance ratio is the charger from Team Orion. You can use it to charge both LiPo and NiMH batteries. It has a higher charging capacity than the one shown above, meaning your battery is charged more quickly. It is still easy to use: enter the exact specifications on the battery into the charger and your battery will be charged correctly.
Want to play in the professional league? Then you need a charger that allows you to charge two batteries at the same time. One such charger is the "OEM Junsi iCharger 1010 DUO" model, for example. You can also use it to charge large batteries from really powerful RC models. You do not connect this charger directly to the socket, but connect it to the appropriate power supply unit, which in turn is plugged into the socket.
Do I need a charging cable?
If you have several batteries and a charger, as described above, you will need a cable with different connections. This is because, as with mobile phones, you need different charging cables depending on the brand and type of battery. To ensure you always have the right plug for all battery types, I recommend this cable with 19 different connections.

I love the strategy game “The Settlers of Catan”, the Ravensburger puzzle “Colourful Cupcakes” and the pink fluffy unicorn that sits on my desk (a birthday present from my workmates). Not only do I have a weakness for toys, I also get excited about good food and comedy TV shows.
