ISPO 2019: Half helmet, half headphones
by Michael Restin
It's gigantic: sport as far as the eye can see. Snowsports, outdoor, fitness... there's everything and more. 2,800 exhibitors showcase their innovations at ISPO in Munich. My colleague Michael Restin and I jump into the hustle and bustle - and we take you with us.
For sports freaks, it's like heaven with a little bit of hell. Around 2,800 exhibitors showcase their products in 18 exhibition halls. From mainstream to niche products, everything is represented, high-end and junk side by side, stand after stand. Here the gigantic pavilion of Mammut, there two ladies from Taiwan, surrounded by countless snap hooks. There's something bizarre about it. Sustainability is promised at every other stand, while it plays no role at all at the others. Here T-shirts made from recycled walnut shells, there scooters made from brightly coloured plastic. Quirky.
No matter, Michael and I feel like little kids in Candyland and do what we do best: snacking. Or trying out all sorts of possible and impossible things. At the table tennis table, we let the balls hit around our ears. We row, climb up strange bouldering walls or hang upside down on the rings. We leave no stone unturned, as you can see in the video above.
We will be introducing you to the trendiest products and most innovative new products over the next few days. In this article you will find all the latest reports from Team Galaxus at ISPO.
From radio journalist to product tester and storyteller, jogger to gravel bike novice and fitness enthusiast with barbells and dumbbells. I'm excited to see where the journey'll take me next.
