Unless you’re a professional, it’s not always easy to find out which ironing solution best suits your needs. To help you make the right choice, we have defined 7 criteria for the categories “clothes iron”, “ironing station” and “ironing system”.
Clothes irons
- Cost: Low-cost
- Amount of clothes: Small amounts, 1–2x a week, < 2 hours
- Fabric compatibility: Suitable for light fabrics
- Storage space required: Space-saving, for one-person or small households
- Characteristics: Manageable, lightweight and quickly ready for use
- Accessories: Ironing board required, optional water filter and descaler
- Important features: Power, adjustable steam, maximum steam output and anti-scale system
Ironing stations
- Cost: mid-price to high-price
- Amount of washing: Large amounts, 2–3x a week, > 2 hours
- Fabrics: Suitable for light and heavy fabrics
- Storage space required: Compact, for small or large households
- Characteristics: Powerful and steady
- Accessories: Ironing board required
- Important features: Constant steam, steam pressure, heating-up time and anti-scale system
Ironing systems
- Cost: high-price
- Amount of washing: Very large amounts, 2–3x or more a week, > 3 hours
- Fabrics: Suitable for light and heavy fabrics
- Storage space required: Takes up a lot of space, suitable for large households
- Characteristics: Powerful, steady, includes active ironing board
- Accessories: Usually includes accessories, system is expandable
- Important features: Steam pressure, active ironing board, anti-scale system, automatic steam flow
