It's hard to choose one model from the 100 or so scooters in our range. We'll show you how they differ from each other and which types of scooter are available.

What are the components of a scooter?

A scooter consists of five main components: a deck, handlebars, brake, wheels and ball bearings.

  • Deck: decks differ in width, length and weight. A wide deck offers you more security, but appears less manoeuvrable than a narrower version. Depending on its design, the deck absorbs the jolts caused by different types of ground.
  • Handlebars: on most models, the handlebars are height-adjustable and the scooter can be folded in a jiffy. A major advantage for people who take their scooter on public transport (e.g. on the train).
  • Brake: the brake is located at the rear of the tray and is used to control speed or bring the scooter to a complete stop.
  • Wheels: scooter wheels come in different sizes and - depending on the area of use - in different materials. What's more, the wheels - most of which are made of polyurethane - are decisive for the speed at which the scooter can travel. Your scooter is faster and more manoeuvrable with air-filled wheels.
  • Ball bearings: ball bearings, also known as bearings, are necessary so that the wheel can be mounted at the fork. Ball bearings also keep the wheels turning, and ensure that they don't lock up straight away. There are two ball bearings per wheel, so four in all for a scooter. Bearing precision is measured in ABEC and ranges from ABEC 1 (minimum) to ABEC 11 (maximum). Ball bearings of different qualities are available - the better the quality, i.e. the more precise the ball bearings, the faster the scooter.

Other important elements of a scooter: the strap, the kickstand and the light.

  • Strap: with an adjustable strap, the scooter can be worn on the shoulder after use.
  • Stand: a built-in stand is handy for anyone who stops often to run errands or meet up with friends.
  • Light: if you're travelling in the dark, it's advisable to use a lamp as for cycling.

What types of scooter are there

?
Not all scooters are alike. There are city scooters, freestyle scooters, children's scooters and electric scooters.

City scooters

City scooters are ideal for getting around in the urban jungle. Thanks to a folding mechanism and adjustable strap, they're easy to transport when you don't need them. They are especially aimed at people who use public transport on a daily basis to get to work or school.

Freestyle scooters

Freestyle scooters have been designed to offer maximum fun in parks or on the road. All components are specifically reinforced so you can perform the most spectacular tricks.

Children's scooters

When choosing a children's scooter, it's important to choose a model with height-adjustable handlebars, to grow with the child. Thanks to a solid platform with a non-slip surface, these scooters ensure safe use. Many of our children's scooters are convertible, so can be adapted to children's needs.

Electric scooters

Comfortable, practical and fast - electric scooters are part of the future! Those known as e-scooters are like electric bicycles. They run on a motor and are above all two things: small and manoeuvrable. They're ideal for commuting, especially in town.

Scooter accessories: safety and fun

To make your scooter outing perfect, don't forget to complete your equipment with accessories: a light for safety, protectors and a helmet. With Hudora's signature set of ramps, turn your driveway into a little skatepark.

Whether on the sea, on the road or in the glittering powder. I prefer to move sideways on the board. It may sound trite, but for me it is still the best feeling in the world. It's the perfect balance to my job as a product manager in winter, water and fun sports. Shred it!
