Everything in a mess - the return of bucket hats

A trend that was thought to be dead is celebrating its comeback.
If you grew up in the 90s like me, you'll be familiar with it and will have buried it by the early 2000s at the latest: the fisherman's hat trend. Run DMC, bad boy AJ from the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears were all advocates of the bucket hat. I myself chose a model from the Kangol brand back then. As far as I remember, you could even wear the hat on both sides. Light blue on the inside, beige on the outside. During the ongoing 90s revival, I was forced to work through some of my fashion traumas. In addition to flared trousers and platform shoes, the bucket hat was also taken off the fashion no-go list and is now back on trend.
Function follows form follows function
For a long time, this hat was primarily worn by fishing enthusiasts in combination with a matching waistcoat. The wide brim protected against wind and weather. Now the fisherman's hat is once again a must-have for the fashion-conscious. In summer, stars such as Rihanna and Gigi Hadid combined the bucket hat with a sporty look. This season, the trend continues to evolve. The streetwear item is becoming an elegant accessory. In contrast to the colourful patterned models of the previous season, this autumn you can wear the hat plain, in black or beige tones. The brim is wider again and many models are equipped with a catch band. Thanks to this band, the hat can be fastened to the head, while windproof and waterproof materials make it functional rain protection. The fishing hat once again fulfils its original purpose. Due to the weather, it makes sense for it to become a style element of the casual Scandi style in its new form. I have discovered it on the profiles of Nordic bloggers in particular. They are combining it with casual and feminine looks this autumn. [[image:29337589 "The Swedish It Girl Babba C. Rivera with rain hat. Chanel vs. Schöffel
The rain hat is also well represented in the collections of international designers. Chanel, Burberry, Prada and Jacquemus show luxurious models. Chanel presents a transparent version made of PVC for the proud price of 1,150 dollars. In contrast, the cotton version from the Burberry brand is almost cheap at 700 francs (but unfortunately not waterproof). Admittedly, despite my reservations from last season, I'm quite taken with the current trend. Fortunately, I don't have to invest half my salary in the purchase. I simply researched the range from various outdoor brands. At Schöffel, Marmot or Arc'teryx I have discovered models that are functional and beautiful at the same time.

If I'm not eating a cordon bleu, I'm probably browsing the Internet and finding funny Youtube videos as well as inspiration. I am passionate about fashion, movies and cooking. As a self-proclaimed fashionista, I don't do sports neither do I eat vegan or gluten-free. As Sophia Loren once said: «Everything you see I owe to spaghetti» – or in my case, cordon bleu.
