digitec plays "New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe": There's a kids' mode for good measure

"New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe" is more than just a shallow port of the Wii U version. There are more characters, more items and more modes to choose from. Simon and I strap on our dungarees and hand out mouthcuffs to Goombas and Koopas. Our stream starts at 10am.
The year has barely begun when the first big hit follows. However, "New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe" is not an entirely new game. Wii U owners were able to enjoy the colourful sidescrolling game six years ago. Now the title is being released as a deluxe version on the Switch and even comes with a few new features.
Jump-'n'-run fans can let off steam in 164 levels. As usual, the game can be played with up to four players at the same time. This usually only leads to more chaos, but sometimes that's exactly what you want. The grid has changed a little. In addition to Mario, Luigi and Toad, there are now also Nabbit and Toadette to choose from. They all play slightly differently. The last two are primarily intended for beginners or younger players - or whistles like Simon and me.

Luigi provides more umpf
Nintendo has also added new items to the title. For example, the Super Crown. This transforms Toadette into Peachette. This allows her to jump higher and escape chasms better thanks to a boost. The super acorn is available to everyone and lets you glide or stick to walls.
The former DLC with Luigi is now a fixed part of the game and is available to all players looking for a greater challenge. There are also Quick Play, Coin Hunt and Challenge modes, which should provide more hours of gameplay.
Simon and I are already stretching our dungarees so that we are ready to jump over chasms and voracious plants at 10 a.m.
Slight delay in delivery
If you're wondering why we're already playing while you might still have to wait for your game, it's because there's unfortunately been a slight delay in delivery. While we received a code from Nintendo for testing, our shipments could not be dispatched on time. We hope you can still enjoy our stream. Think of it as an appetiser before you get to jump into the latest Super Mario adventure for yourself.

Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
