The colour is not pink, but "laser red". Nevertheless, the coating on the self-tinting Tralyx sports glasses from Rudy Project seems to have a similar effect to the proverbial rose-coloured glasses. At least when you look at the description, everything is great. No, even better. The Tralyx is "uniquely shaped", offers "unrivalled comfort", has "unrivalled heat dissipation" and offers the "perfect aerodynamics". I'm not sure I'm worthy of these goggles. Although I am also uniquely shaped, I have not yet won the Tour de France or the Biathlon World Cup. Nevertheless, I'm trying out how the goggles fit my average face.
When terms like aerodynamics, diffusers and chassis are mentioned in the same breath, it's usually about Formula 1. In this case, it's about the special temple design and ventilation system of these sports goggles. The openings are designed to create an air flow that efficiently dissipates heat. The temples and nose pad can be quickly and easily bent into the desired position, while the "exclusive Power Flow System" takes care of the rest with "convincing comfort superiority".
I haven't tested the glasses in a wind tunnel. But one bike tour in changeable conditions is enough to realise that all this blah-blah is not just hot air. I can't say whether the heat dissipation is really that outstanding. In any case, I feel almost nothing, and that's a good sign for sports glasses. No side wind getting into my eyes. No pressing temples. No significant weight on the nose. The Tralyx may be expensive, but they only weigh 28 grams. That's a touch of nothing, less than a troy ounce. That is 31.1034768 grams. And ultralight equipment is worth its weight in gold for some athletes.
The shatterproof plastic lens can be replaced in a few simple steps, although this will rarely be necessary. As it is a photochromatic, i.e. self-tinting lens, you are well served in both gloomy and sunny conditions. In addition to UV protection, it offers more safety by increasing contrast and - but not rose-coloured glasses - reducing rainbow formation. That all sounds good and is pleasant to use. Their tint adapts quickly to changing conditions. I was out and about with them in the foggy forest and in glorious weather at the lake and almost forgot that the Tralyx was sitting on my nose. If you want to win the Tour de France - the Tralyx won't be the reason.
