7 things you didn't know about Jason Momoa

While we are still waiting for the release of the somewhat weird "The Bad Batch" here in Germany, Jason Momoa's fans in the USA have been enjoying the science fiction drama since June. We take a look at the muscle man and what's hiding behind him.
There are few actors more associated with pure masculinity than Jason Momoa. The muscle-bound 2-metre man, who is known for tough roles such as "Conan the Barbarian" or Khal Drogo in "Game of Thrones", could scare you if it weren't for his likeable charisma, which makes him seem down-to-earth and simply adorable. What many people also don't know: Momoa is the father of two children with fuzzy hair, whom he loves more than anything. Beneath the Hawaiian's many muscles lies a big heart that beats for his family. In a commercial produced by Carhartt, the attractive Aquaman-to-be gives an insight into his private life and shows his philosophical and fragile side - somehow very different from the actor we are used to seeing in his films. And somehow simply human.
Currently, Momoa is appearing in a somewhat special film in the USA - "The Bad Batch". The sci-fi drama is set in the future, where humans are slowly running out of food resources and cannibalism seems to be the only solution. Momoa falls in love and seems to be the only person with a heart. Just like Jason Momoa is - outwardly badass and in reality the simple, down-to-earth Hollywood actor and ultra-hot boy next door. A reason to take a closer look at the Hawaiian actor.
1 Long live Khal Drogo
The cult series par excellence "Game of Thrones" starts in 2011, where Jason Momoa is still part of the cast. As Khal Drogo, the actor makes viewers shudder and their blood run cold just looking at him. But somehow Drogo still manages to win over the fans of the series, and suddenly the leader of the brutal warrior tribe surprisingly has a lot of sympathisers. Together with his on-screen wife Emilia Clarke, who plays Danaerys Targaryen, the Hawaiian wins over fans from episode to episode until he tragically leaves the show, leaving them wishing for more Khal Drogo.
Witty: Momoa convinces the producers of "Game of Thrones" with a dance performance. During the casting, the muckety-muck man shows his tough side and gyrates his hips in the New Zealand haka dance.
2. muscle man with a heart
As Jason Momoa repeatedly makes clear on his Instagram profile, he is a proud husband and father of two adorable children. He has been married to Lenny Kravitz ex-wife Lisa Bonet for 10 years, with whom he has a daughter and a son. The fact that Momoa has Hawaiian roots cannot be denied by the kids' names: Nakoa Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha and Lola Lolani are the names of the two siblings who share their father's bobbed mane. Although Momoa is remembered as rather scary as Drogo or Conan, we are sure that he is a lovable teddy bear and a wonderful father.

Currently, Momoa is in front of the camera as Aquaman in Australia, where his wife and children surprised him for his 38th birthday. The Hawaiian writes "I have never been so surprised in my life" and once again shows what a family man he is. Awww, it doesn't get any sweeter than that!
3. red swimming trunks
Yes, even Jason Momoa started out small - on the beach in Hawaii. Wearing the world-famous red swimming trunks, he saved lives from 1999 to 2001 in "Baywatch Hawaii" and made women's hearts beat faster in slow motion. He was discovered in a small surf shop on the beach where he was working at the time. Even back then, he looked outrageously good and, in my opinion, stole the show from David Hasselhoff and co.

After hanging up his red swimming shorts, Momoa was drawn back into the water a few years later - but this time not as a topless lifeguard, but as a superhero! As Aquaman, the Hawaiian is part of the "Justice League" at the end of this year and blows everyone away with his pure masculinity.
4. Endless love for water
Jason Momoa's attachment to the cool water runs deep. Before becoming an actor and model, the Hawaiian attended university in Iowa, where he studied marine biology. After a few semesters, however, he changed university and subject and then tried his hand at studying zoology at Colorado State University. After dropping out, he moved to Hawaii to live with his father, reconciled with him, was discovered as a model and - we know the rest of the story. Thank you, Jason Momoa, for not containing us as an actor and male bombshell.
5. Momoa and the broken nose
What you don't do for your job. Before filming starts on "Conan the Barbarian", Jason Momoa has his nose broken. It's actually more of a joke at first, but the friend Momoa tells about his idea takes the joke a little too seriously and punches the Hawaiian in the face. His nose is broken and Momoa's warrior look is even more authentic than ever.
Fun fact: The 193-centimetre-tall actor takes the punch like a champ and laughingly says "Don't tell my wife!".
In order to hold a candle to Arnold Schwarzenegger, one of the greatest action heroes of all, Momoa has to take a lot of punishment. During the filming of "Conan the Barbarian", Arnie's successor is often thrown from his horse. Badass Momoa gets back on again and again and eventually suffers several broken ribs. True to the motto: A Hawaiian knows no pain!
6. The story of the eyebrow scar
We've all wondered whether the sexy scar on the left eyebrow is real or fake. But yes, it is real. In 2008, Jason Momoa was attacked in a bar and a man pulled a broken beer glass over his head. The wound required an incredible 140 stitches.

But nothing can disfigure a handsome man and even after this accident, women still fancy him. Somehow, the disfigured eyebrow emphasises his bad boy image all the more. Fans have even set up a Facebook page in honour of his scar: Jason Momoa's Sexy Scar.
7th shark beware
Jason Momoa's tattoos are unmissable and incredibly hot. The native Hawaiian reveals the meaning of what is probably the largest image on his skin: his forearm is emblazoned with a ring of triangles lined up in a row. These are supposed to resemble shark teeth and protect him from shark attacks on his surfboard. He hopes that the sea creatures will think they are meeting their match and that he will be spared.
And because he often spends his free time on a surfboard, this belief, which comes from his ancestors, makes sense. After all, surfing runs in his family, as does his connection with nature and the innate coolness and ease with which the Hawaiian goes through life. Momoa is the nephew of two world-famous Hawaiian surfing legends, Brian and Rusty Keaulana. So he was born with the surfer boy image.
And because we just can't get enough of Momoa's body of steel, you can watch his tough workout here:

I spend my everyday life with writing, eating, sports and sleeping - and in between a lot of humour. I love the summer, ice cream, chocolate, sunsets and walking barefoot. Traveling, exploring new worlds and experiencing adventures. And nothing beats a good pizza with good friends to a good movie.
