In 2003, Claire Ekelund from California was expecting her second child. While preparing for life with a new baby, she designed and made a nursing cover from beautiful fabrics and added elements to make it both functional and fashionable. Once the new baby arrived, Claire began using the nursing cover and received countless compliments from other new moms and inquiries about where they could purchase their own - a business was born. Initially, the breastfeeding covers were called "Hooter Hiders," colloquially meaning "boob hiders," then in 2005 the company was renamed Bébé au Lait. Since then, the company has grown steadily, becoming a global brand. Bébé au Lait nursing scarves, blankets, bibs and other mommy accessories are sold in over 60 countries.
