The proud figure of Britannia has represented Great Britain for centuries. She symbolizes values that are important to the nation, such as strength, resilience, and bravery. The Romans made Britannia a symbol for Britain, and she was first depicted on coins around AD 119 during the reign of Emperor Hadrian. After the decline of the Roman Empire, the figure disappeared but re-emerged during the Elizabethan era, becoming a symbol of British naval power. In 1987, the Gold Britannia was minted for the first time, making it the first European gold bullion coin at that time. The face value of the Britannia gold coin is marked in British pounds, and it is considered legal tender in the UK. Since 1997, a Britannia silver coin has also been issued alongside the gold coin. The proof (PP) version is particularly sought after by collectors and is one of the most elaborate minting processes for a coin. The Silver Britannia 1 oz PP - 2025 is limited to a mintage of only 4,500 pieces and comes in its original coin case with a numbered certificate of authenticity. The design side of the Britannia silver coin features a majestic figure holding a trident, captivating the viewer's gaze as she stands over rolling waves. Sun rays can also be seen on the horizon. In addition to the mint year "2025," the inscription "BRITANNIA" and the weight and fineness "1oz 999" are depicted on the design side. The reverse side of the coin shows the portrait of King Charles III. Surrounding the portrait is the inscription "CHARLES III D G REX F D," which stands for CHARLES III DEI GRATIA REX FIDEI DEFENSOR (Charles the Third, by the Grace of God, King, Defender of the Faith). Additionally, the face value "2 POUNDS" and the initials "MJ" of the British sculptor Martin Jennings, whose portrait of King Charles adorns the reverse side, can be found.
