Information about Silver Lunar III Dragon 1 oz PP - 2024
The highly anticipated latest edition of the Lunar III series from the Perth Mint continues with the stunning motif of the Chinese dragon. The dragon is the fifth sign of the twelve-year lunar calendar. This reflects the traditional story in which the Jade Emperor had the twelve zodiac signs compete in a race across a river to determine the order in which they would be entered into the calendar. Those born in the year of the Chinese dragon in 2024, 2012, 2000, 1988, 1976, and every 12th preceding year are considered ambitious, successful, and charismatic.
In addition to the classic investment variant, the Perth Mint also releases specific gold and silver proof variants (Polished Plate) of the Lunar III Dragon. The Polished Plate (PP) is particularly sought after by collectors and is one of the most elaborate manufacturing processes for a coin. As a special highlight for collectors, each coin is issued with a capsule that includes a numbered certificate of authenticity and a high-quality case with silver engraving and magnetic closure. The silver coin is strictly limited to a worldwide mintage of only 5,000 pieces.
