Product details
Born on September 14, 1804, in Dorset, England, John Gould is one of the most renowned ornithologists and animal painters of the 19th century. He discovered that the Galápagos finches brought back by Charles Darwin form a distinct group and undertook zoological expeditions to Australia. His travels and research resulted in several works on the wildlife of Australia, including colorful illustrations of the rainbow lorikeet (Trichoglossus moluccanus). The rainbow lorikeet is a medium-sized parrot measuring 25–30 cm in length, with a weight ranging from 125 to 150 g. Its plumage is bright and vibrant. The head is deep blue with a greenish-yellow nape, while the upper wing surfaces, back, rump, and tail are green. The beak is orange-red, the chest varies in shades of red, orange, and yellow, and the belly is deep blue. In flight, the broad yellow wing stripe of the primary feathers stands out distinctly against the red underwing coverts and the brown wing trailing edge.
The delivery of the Silver Rainbow Lorikeet 1 oz PP - 2024 comes in its original case, including a numbered certificate of authenticity.
