The gold tone in the polished grooves is achieved through physical vapor deposition, where titanium nitride is heated to its plasma state and then shot onto the ring's surface in a vacuum chamber. This creates an ultra-thin ceramic layer that is bonded to the surface on a molecular level. The result is a golden shine that is much stronger and more durable than plating, which won't chip over time and is more environmentally friendly.
