This coarse, colorful salt comes from a lake that dried up 250 million years ago and was subsequently covered by Austrian alpine rocks. The natural salt rocks from which the salt is extracted are rich in valuable minerals and trace elements. The reddish-brown color is due to its exceptionally high iron content.
