The Thomy company was formed in 1930 from the merger of H. Franck Söhne in Basel and the Helvetia factory of the Thomi and Meister families in Langenthal. At that time, mustard was sold openly in large stone pots. However, Hans Thomi quickly realized that he needed special packaging for his mustard to stand out from competitors. This marked the birth of the famous aluminum tube, a packaging method that was previously unknown in the food industry worldwide.
