Basil (Ocimum basilicum), also known as sweet basil or king herb, is a plant species from the mint family. This wonderfully fragrant, sun-kissed spice plant is indispensable in our herb gardens. Fresh or dried basil leaves are particularly used in Italian and French cuisine, adding a unique basil note with a fresh, peppery-aromatic flavor to dishes. Dried basil is not as intensely aromatic as fresh. Swiss Alpine Herbs Organic Basil is cultivated and hand-tended by mountain farmers in the Swiss Alps and pre-Alps. To retain as much aroma as possible, the delicate basil leaves are harvested just before the plant blooms, as this is when they contain the most essential oils and have reached their maximum aroma.
These aromatic organic herbs come from certified wild collection. They are carefully hand-picked and gently dried by mountain farmers in the Swiss Alpine region.
