Sponser Ultra Competition is a highly complex nutrient solution specifically designed for the demands of ultra and long-distance events. Waxy maize starch and gluten-free starch hydrolysates from barley and rice provide long-lasting energy supply and a low glycemic index. Waxy maize starch is a branched-chain glucose molecule with a very large molecular size. Unlike simple or double sugars, waxy maize starch contains up to 1000 or more molecules in a branched form. Although the long-chain and relatively complex structure is quickly emptied from the stomach, it is only slowly broken down into glucose by enzymes. Therefore, the insulin spike from a drink primarily composed of waxy maize starch is significantly lower than that of conventional carbohydrate mixtures. Ultra Competition is gluten-free, lactose-free, free from isomaltulose, and free from free fructose. These nutrients are often poorly tolerated under stress conditions during ultra-endurance events and can therefore limit performance. The low glycemic effect is specifically suitable for long distances.

The application is versatile: as a highly concentrated solution or sports drink, without the addition of fructose, gluten-free, lactose-free, and without acidifying agents. It offers easy handling and contains no artificial colorings. The mild inherent taste can be individually flavored. Particularly suitable for endurance activities lasting from 8 to 12 hours. As a sports drink, a dosage of 60 to 100 g per liter is recommended. When used as a watery gel, up to 60 g should be dissolved in 300 ml of water depending on energy needs and consumed in sips every 10 to 15 minutes. If thirsty, additional water should be consumed. The ingredients include waxy maize starch (33%), maltodextrin, sucrose, starch hydrolysates (barley (gluten-free), rice), and five mineral salts (sodium citrate, calcium lactate, magnesium citrate, sodium chloride, potassium citrate).
