Filter Cartridge rivaALVA LIFE-EM

The rivaALVA LIFE-EM filter cartridge is a sintered activated carbon block filter cartridge that is enriched with EM ceramic powder during production. EM stands for effective microorganisms. The EM ceramic is made from a specially fired clay that contains organic material from millions of years old plants and serves as food for the effective microorganisms (EM) during the multi-month fermentation process. EM ceramic causes, among other things, a reduction in the surface tension of water and the size of cluster structures.

The filter cartridge is food-safe and is produced in Germany in an environmentally friendly manner from renewable raw materials.

Contaminant Retention

Contaminant retention is achieved through three principles of activated carbon: The filter fineness of 20 µm retains particles larger than the filter pores. Based on mechanical action, suspended particles, rust particles, and microplastics are retained. Through catalytic action, certain substances like chlorine and chlorine compounds can be transformed, so they no longer exist in their original form. The adsorptive action allows for the uptake of additional contaminants, which adhere directly to the activated carbon and remain there. Thanks to the adsorptive effect, organic compounds such as pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, heavy metals like lead and copper, pharmaceutical residues, hormones, and taste-altering substances can be retained.

Service Life

The filter cartridge must be replaced after 6 months (according to DIN 1988). The recommended maximum throughput is 7000 liters, depending on water quality, especially with noticeably reduced water flow.
