The sweet alternative to cocoa powder. The powder has a sweet, malty flavor with a subtle bitter note and reminds one of caramel. Carob powder is derived from the fruit of the carob tree. It naturally contains sugar, is low in fat, rich in calcium, and provides valuable dietary fiber. Carob powder does not contain stimulating substances such as caffeine or theobromine.

Carob powder is made from the pods of the carob tree. The pods are crushed and separated from the seeds. They are then dried and ground into powder.
