Product details
Its name comes from Hungarian, but the plant it originates from is originally from Central America. It likely arrived in Europe shortly after Christopher Columbus's expeditions. The Turks later spread it in Hungary. Fine paprika powder has a very beautiful red color that leans slightly towards orange. It is made from peppers with thin skin and a mild flavor, which are picked ripe and then dried in the sun or in warm air before being ground. The spiciness of paprika powder varies depending on the variety. In Spain, a similar variety called "Pimentón" is used to season everyday dishes. Paprika is particularly valued in Eastern European countries. The main producing countries are Hungary, Bulgaria, the former Yugoslavia, Spain, Morocco, South Africa, Brazil, Argentina, and the USA.
Scientific name: Capsicum annuum.
Mild paprika powder is suitable for short cooking times. It seasons and colors omelets, river fish soups, potato creams, eggplant caviar, ratatouille, risotto, tomato pasta, Moroccan salad, beef goulash, creamy chicken, veal with mushrooms, tartar, game, fillings, mayonnaise, or quark.
Dosage: 1 to 2 tablespoons for 4 people.
