The Spanish rock salt is extracted directly from geological salt deposits in the Catalan hinterland, which originate from a prehistoric inland sea. Due to the presence of iron-bearing minerals, the salt has a delicate, slightly pink hue and a fine, mild aroma. It is handmade in small batches at the Funke manufactory in Spain. The salt is dry ground and unrefined, preserving its natural properties. It contains no additives, anti-caking agents, artificial flavors, colorings, flavor enhancers, or preservatives. This crystal salt is excellent for sweet and salty combinations, such as in caramel sauces or over dark chocolate pastries.
