Due to its high swelling capacity, consume with sufficient liquid. The Bud label stands for comprehensively sustainable production and gentle processing. Both in agriculture and in processing, significantly higher requirements apply than in the Swiss or EU organic regulations.

The main differences between Bio Bud and Swiss organic are: fewer additives and auxiliary substances (e.g. ban on unnecessary colourings and flavourings), regulations for environmentally friendly packaging materials and pest control measures, import restrictions on sufficient domestic supplies and a ban on air transport. Stricter criteria apply to water and energy consumption as well as social requirements such as ensuring the health and safety of employees, overtime pay and more.

Operational catalogues of measures to promote biodiversity, such as the maintenance of hedges, forest edges, dry stone walls and the keeping of bees, are also part of the guidelines. There are stricter requirements for crop rotation, fertilisation and plant protection. All animals receive at least 90 % Bud feed and ruminants at least 90 % roughage. A codex for fair trade relations applies. The aim is to process the food as gently as possible in order to preserve its naturalness and authenticity. Bio Bud products may contain raw materials from the EU or Switzerland.
