Profissimo drawstring bioplastics bin liners are compostable via the organic waste bin, liquid-tight and tear-resistant. They enable the hygienic disposal of organic waste. The bioplastics are made from ecovio, a certified compostable plastic made primarily from renewable raw materials. This is polylactide (PLA), which is obtained by fermenting cellulose. Thanks to its special chemical structure, ecovio can be broken down by microorganisms and their enzymes. Under the conditions of an industrial composting plant - with the appropriate temperature, high humidity and defined oxygen content - disintegration takes place within 6 weeks. The biofilm is completely converted into carbon dioxide, water and biomass so that no microplastic residues remain. In domestic compost, the decomposition process takes longer as the conditions are not comparable to those in an industrial composting plant.
