A larger and more robust variant of the classic Fusilli, which belongs to the tradition of the Campania region and was traditionally handmade according to a method passed down from mother to daughter. In this process, a spaghetti had to be wrapped around a knitting needle particularly quickly and skillfully. The dexterity required for this task is reminiscent of spinning machines, and indeed, the term "fusillo" is derived from "fuso," the typical working instrument of spinning machines. Fusilli Giganti are particularly suitable for dishes with strong and bold flavors, as well as for preparation methods where they are briefly sautéed.
