Ankerkraut spices are produced by hand, using machines only when necessary. Stefan, the founder of Ankerkraut, has been an enthusiastic cook since childhood. He discovered his love for foreign flavors at the age of 10 in Africa. It was a homemade curry and the fresh spices, herbs, and pepper varieties found in African markets that sparked his lasting passion. "The spices in Africa simply played in a different league than the domestic mass products," he says today. In Germany, the spices are processed after import and then stored for a long time. Today, Ankerkraut spices are received directly by traders at the harbor, peeled, sorted, and ground, as much as possible without machines. Afterwards, the spices and herbs are refined, and unique blends are created. Unlike most large companies, no flavor enhancers, anti-caking agents, or preservatives are used.
