Van Cleef and Arpels Oud Blanc

The nobility of white wood extracts the essences of exquisite raw materials and refines them with the elegant, puristic signature of the house. This has been the focus since 2009 in the Collection Extraordinaire by Van Cleef & Arpels, which has made exclusivity and authenticity its hallmark. Following Santal Blanc, Van Cleef & Arpels has now introduced Oud Blanc, presenting a surprising reinterpretation of a legendary woody note that many thought they already knew everything about. Oud Blanc is not just a reissue but a rediscovery of this fragrance note. The typical bottle of the line has been painted white and contains an astonishingly crystal-clear and characterful interpretation of the woody-oriental scent. To find a new approach to this note, perfumer Anne Flipo drew inspiration from what happens when Oud wood is burned. The wood releases a hot, white smoke that envelops in mysterious, sensual fragrances. She aimed to capture the warm, gentle, and transparent breath of this smoke in this perfume. Carried by the scent of sweet dates, the precious Oud wood accord then merges with the velvety note of Turkish roses. Vanilla adds delicate, soft undertones, while incense intoxicates us with its dense, smoky facets: its warmth stands in intriguing contrast to the cool touch of white musk and aldehydes. In this way, the impression of a cloud of warm, sensual Oud wood is once again created.
