Miswak, the best toothbrush in the world

Miswak, also called Siwak, refers to a branch, bud, or root piece of the toothbrush tree (Salvadora persica L.) used to clean teeth. We use only the fresh root wood of the plant for the SWAK miswak stick.

Dental care ingredients

The miswak twig contains natural active ingredients that are beneficial to the health of the teeth and oral mucosa:

  • Fluoride, tooth enamel hardening
  • Silicate, gentle cleaning agent
  • Vitamin C, preservative
  • Tannins, astringent
  • Saponins, soil dissolving
  • Flavonoids, antibacterial
  • Potassium, calcium, remineralizing

Contained in miswak are natural fluorides with a useful effect as a structural element of our skeleton and teeth, silicon, which is irreplaceable for the maintenance of connective tissue, cartilage, bones, hair, nails, teeth, and calcium sulfate, which is important in the formation of bones and teeth.

Application

  • Remove the bark from one end of the miswak. You can do this with a normal kitchen knife or with your teeth. All parts of the wood are suitable for consumption.
  • Then press the first three millimeters of the root wood together with your incisors and turn the wood around its own axis. Do this until the wood is softly frayed.
  • With your finger, check if the wood is soft enough. It should be a pleasantly soft brush, with fibers no longer than two to three millimeters.
  • Now you can gently stroke the wood over your teeth and enjoy the pleasant brushing feeling. If the brushing result is no longer good, simply cut off a piece at the front and nibble on the new end again. After brushing, leave the wood to dry in the air. If you want to use the wood again after drying, soak the front piece briefly in water or saliva.
  • You can also cut off the front part, return the rest of the stem to the packaging, and store it in the refrigerator. This will preserve the essential oils of the miswak longer.
