Quercetin is a secondary plant compound that resembles the more well-known OPC and belongs to the group of flavonoids. It is derived from the flowers of the Japanese sophora tree, which are also used in traditional Chinese medicine. Quercetin is a natural substance predominantly found in vegetables such as capers, red onions, and red-leaved chicory. The human body cannot produce flavonoids on its own, so they must be obtained from external sources. The challenge is that quercetin, like many other flavonoids, has relatively poor bioavailability. This means that the body's limited absorption restricts the high potential of the substance. A solution to this problem is the liposomal form. Liposomes are structurally very similar to cell membranes in the body. Therefore, they easily attach to cell membranes and deliver their contents directly into the cells. This property significantly enhances bioavailability.
