Floradix Folic Acid Capsules are a dietary supplement containing 400 μg of folate equivalent in the form of gelatin-free soft capsules. Folic acid is particularly important for women of childbearing age and should be taken in higher doses when planning a pregnancy, ideally starting before conception. It is recommended to continue this intake for at least the first trimester of pregnancy. The SGE advises women who wish to conceive to take 400 μg of synthetic folic acid daily.
Folic acid contributes to the growth of maternal tissue during pregnancy and supports normal blood formation. It also plays a role in cell division. Supplementing with folic acid increases the folate levels in pregnant women. A low folate level is a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the growing fetus.
Floradix Folic Acid Capsules are gelatin-free, gluten-free, and lactose-free. They are suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
