Description:
Phycocyanin and beta-Carotene have antioxidant effects. They can capture free radicals and inhibit lipid oxidation. Phycocyanin selectively inhibits the enzyme Cyclooxygenase-2, which plays a crucial role in inflammatory processes. This may account for the hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, and anti-arthritic properties of phycocyanin. Another important ingredient, the sulfated polysaccharide Spirulan, has shown anticoagulant and fibrinolytic properties in vitro.
