These foot warmers begin their commendable work the moment you unpack them. The oxygen that then comes into contact with the iron/salt mixture triggers an oxidation process that generates heat (non-exhaustive summary of chemical events). This can be accelerated somewhat by shaking (aeration). Your feet will be pampered in closed shoes for up to 4 hours.
