Toothpaste for milk teeth must provide reliable protection against tooth decay - this requires fluoride. However, children's toothpastes should not contain titanium dioxide. The colourant is controversial and unnecessary. Not all toothpastes tested fulfil these requirements - the quality ratings in our database of 26 children's toothpastes range from very good to poor.
No fluoride, too little fluoride, a controversial dye: many children's toothpastes in the test are not well composed. Toothpaste for milk teeth must reliably protect against caries. For this, it needs fluoride. The toothpastes should also not contain titanium dioxide: This controversial dye is unnecessary...

The result: almost every second toothpaste tested fails: We rate a whole 199 products as "poor" or "unsatisfactory". "Satisfactory" or "sufficient" are 58 toothpastes. They have minor defects. We can at least recommend a good third of all toothpastes: 116 products were rated as "very good" and 27 as "good"...
