Shaal Nur by Etro, launched in 1997 and named after an Indian princess, is a warm and vibrant oriental fragrance full of life. The aromatic accord combines rich woody notes with enchanting flowers, lively spices, and fresh citrus and green tones. The opening delivers invigorating lemon, mandarin, grapefruit, and bergamot, balanced by coriander. The floral-green heart reveals both familiar and exotic notes - a clean, oddly sweet-spicy blend of tarragon, rosemary, thyme, and petitgrain, combined with rose and Karo-Karounde, a West African flower with a peppery accent. Spices and incense stand out in the woody base: among them is the honeyed balsamic aroma of opoponax, also known as sweet myrrh, along with nutmeg, patchouli, and rosewood.
