Sacred Wood is an olfactory homage to the true, authentic sandalwood from Mysore, India. In India, the extract of Santalum Album has been used for centuries in perfumery. Unfortunately, the natural stocks have been so severely depleted due to the popularity of the plant that the species is now considered endangered, and the use of the oil for perfumery has been banned. Kilian sought to recreate the unique essence of this fragrance ingredient, which holds such a significant role in the history of perfume. Sacred Wood evokes the sensuality of this ethereal oil through impressions of steaming hot milk aromas with a hint of cumin and geranium. The intense woody nuances of sandalwood, cedarwood, and frankincense give the fragrance a mystical touch and transport us to the distant and vast landscapes of India.
