The maca plant, Lepidium meyenii, also known as Peruvian ginseng, has been used for thousands of years in the Peruvian Andes. Even the Incas, the indigenous people of the South American highlands, valued and cultivated this superfood. The root is rich in essential amino acids, unsaturated fatty acids (Omega 6 and Omega 9), and contains many vitamins such as vitamin C, B1, B2, and B3, as well as minerals.
