The social revolution and the constant crossing of boundaries in the late 1960s led to new forms of expression among artists. Some artists used performance art – art that exists during its creation – to challenge the prevailing values and behaviors of society. However, this also means that significant voices and parts of the art history of this time are at risk of disappearing, as they exist only as photographic or film records.
